High-level summary
Backboard is looking for an Events and Community Manager to be the face of our developer ecosystem. This role owns our presence at hackathons, conferences, meetups, and partner events across North America while building and nurturing a developer community around AI memory and infrastructure.
You will represent Backboard in person, engage deeply with developers, gather product feedback, and turn real-world interactions into lasting community momentum.
What you will do
Act as Backboard’s ambassador at hackathons, conferences, university events, and industry meetups
Travel across North America to engage developers, founders, and technical teams in person
Run demos, workshops, and informal sessions showcasing Backboard’s API and memory stack
Build and manage relationships with hackathon organizers, accelerators, and developer groups
Grow and moderate Backboard’s online communities including Discord, Slack, and social channels
Create feedback loops between the community and product team to influence roadmap decisions
Support developer onboarding through content, tutorials, office hours, and events
Track community health metrics such as engagement, retention, and developer activation
Collaborate with marketing and engineering on launches, campaigns, and community initiatives
Who you are
Comfortable speaking with developers, even if you are not a senior engineer
Confident representing a technical product in live, unscripted environments
Highly organized and able to manage logistics, travel, and event calendars
Naturally curious, social, and energized by meeting new people
Able to translate technical concepts into clear, compelling explanations
Self-directed and comfortable working remotely with a distributed team
What you bring
2+ years experience in developer relations, community management, events, or technical marketing
Experience attending or organizing hackathons, conferences, or developer meetups
Familiarity with APIs, AI tools, or developer platforms is a strong asset
Willingness and ability to travel regularly across North America
Strong written and verbal communication skills
