Role Summary
As Backboard’s Senior GTM Leader, you’ll own the end-to-end go-to-market strategy: from developer adoption and community growth to enterprise engagement and revenue generation. You’ll bridge product, marketing, and sales — shaping the story, channels, and motions that take Backboard from early traction to scalable growth.
You’ll report directly to the CEO and work closely with the founding team to build repeatable GTM engines across multiple segments (developer, startup, and enterprise).
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Positioning
Develop and execute a unified GTM strategy across developer, SMB, and enterprise audiences.
Translate Backboard’s technical differentiation (stateful memory, configurability, anonymization) into clear, outcome-driven messaging.
Partner with the CEO on pricing, packaging, and market segmentation.
Identify and prioritize high-ROI channels (e.g., Product Hunt, dev communities, accelerators, enterprise pilots).
Developer-First Growth
Design and lead developer acquisition campaigns — from free credits and SDK onboarding to hackathons, tutorials, and partnerships.
Drive growth loops using community, content, and integrations to create virality and retention.
Measure developer activation and conversion using data-driven funnels and experimentation frameworks.
Enterprise & Partner Expansion
Build and lead the playbook for enterprise adoption: identify use cases (e.g., data privacy, compliance, AI infrastructure modernization), develop pilots, and scale to contracts.
Establish and manage channel and ecosystem partnerships (VCs, accelerators, agencies, cloud providers).
Work with Customer Success to ensure seamless onboarding and measurable outcomes for enterprise clients.
Brand & Demand Generation
Oversee content, PR, and campaigns that position Backboard as the leader in AI memory infrastructure.
Drive thought leadership alongside the CEO — including events, newsletters, and media engagement.
Lead competitive intelligence and continuously refine Backboard’s positioning against frameworks like LangChain, MemGPT, and others.
Cross-Functional Leadership
Partner with Product and Engineering to ensure GTM insights inform roadmap priorities.
Define key GTM metrics (CAC, LTV, pipeline velocity, developer activation rate, enterprise conversion) and report directly to leadership.
Recruit and manage a small high-impact GTM team (growth marketing, sales, community).
Qualifications
Must-Have
8+ years in GTM, product marketing, or growth leadership roles at high-growth SaaS or developer-platform companies.
Experience launching and scaling a technical or infrastructure-based product (API, devtools, AI, or cloud).
Proven success in both self-serve/developer-led and enterprise sales motions.
Strong understanding of AI ecosystems, LLMs, or data infrastructure markets.
Demonstrated ability to craft narratives that resonate with both technical and business audiences.
Analytical mindset with a bias for action — metrics-driven, experimental, and iterative.
Nice-to-Have
Early-stage startup experience; comfort building GTM playbooks from zero to one.
Network in AI/ML or developer ecosystems (e.g., OpenAI, Hugging Face, Vercel, YC, a16z portfolio).
Prior experience scaling usage-based SaaS pricing models or API platforms.
What Success Looks Like (12-Month View)
Backboard becomes recognized in developer and enterprise circles as the default AI memory platform.
10,000+ developer accounts activated; 50+ enterprise leads or pilots in motion.
Repeatable funnel from awareness to paid usage is built, tracked, and optimized.
Brand positioning evolves from “promising startup” to “infrastructure category leader.”
Compensation
Competitive salary + performance-based bonus
Benefits + compute credits + conference travel budget
